There are two main types of EV chargers commonly used for home installation: Level 1 and Level 2. The right option depends on your vehicle, driving habits, and charging speed needs.

Level 1 EV Chargers

Level 1 chargers plug into a standard 120-volt household outlet and typically add 4–8 kilometres of driving range per hour. They are best suited for plug-in hybrid vehicles or homeowners who drive short distances and can charge overnight. However, Level 1 charging is often too slow for fully electric vehicles used daily.

Level 2 EV Chargers

Level 2 chargers require a 240-volt circuit—similar to what powers a dryer or electric stove—and can provide 30–60 kilometres of range per hour. This makes them the most popular and practical choice for homeowners. Level 2 chargers also support smart features such as scheduled charging, energy monitoring, and utility optimization, offering faster, more efficient, and future-ready charging.
